Donna Duffy and Pat Howes are co-owners of Academic Connections Tutoring Service, LLC.
Donna has worked in the field of education for over 20 years and has a BS in business administration from
Eastern University. She homeschooled her own children while in Nazareth, Israel, where she and her family
lived for many years. While there started and coordinated a school program there for Arab American
children called Bridging the Gap. Donna continues as a consultant and liaison for that program working
with the current coordinator.

Upon returning to the US, she worked for three years as an education director in a
local tutoring company and in May 2006, she and Pat started Academic Connections Tutoring. Donna has 2 adult
children and one teenager and lives in New Castle, Delaware.
Donna also leads parent workshops on topics such as: Tackling Academic Challenges, Let’s Get Digital-Building
Bridges to your Gen Y Kids, Organizational Overwhelm-In/Out/Time/Stuff, and Casting Vision for your Child’s

Pat has a BS in secondary education from Taylor University and worked for a decade as a preschool director.
For many years, Pat facilitated leadership training as well as development of small groups among college
students and women. She has two adult sons and lives in Wilmington, Delaware.
Consulting and dialoging daily with parents and tutors by phone is one of Pat’s greatest contributions to
Academic Connections. She helps in the areas listening, coaching, encouraging, problem solving,
troubleshooting and supporting our tutoring staff and families to provide a solid framework of communication,
consistency and excellence.
Meeting with parents during the complimentary in-home consultation, Pat and Donna have the opportunity to
consult with them about their children’s academic needs and then match the best tutor to their child’s learning
style and approach. They both enjoy working with parents and tutors to find creative solutions for issues and
challenges that cause students to struggle in school. Their mission is to help students succeed in the
classroom as well as help develop students as thinkers, learners and leaders in the process.
